Yeah, we haven’t played with it yet, but that’s what we’ve been interested in using with our react-three-fibre projects. Good choice!

Hey guys i would like to know more about AR capabilities. I would like to use target tracker for a experience

hybridherbst

Hi! Yes, please DM me to figure out the details. Currently commercial licenses are upon request while we're in beta.

lightmaps weren'[t working for me because my materials were not using one of the known material types.. looking fine now

<@367081956959322114> would be great if you could ask questions in the <#1024686103598477383> πŸ™‚

marwi123

thanks πŸ™‚ yea the idea is just to have one place to search when looking for previously asked questions

Just wanted to give some quick props to <@272528485732450305> for being so active and prompt in the forum posts. You are doing a great job making people feel like they can have conversations to help solidify their understanding.

Hi <@655233338440679425>, better open a question / suggestion in <#1024686103598477383> , ideally with some more context. Thanks!

<@272528485732450305> metachromium has some bugs from webxr mode fully working, detects my headset and can see it tracking but lags and doesn't render properly. sadge, such a great project but understandably its hard for single dev to maintain a web browser fork. I wish overlay features could make it into wolvic or something

This is one of my all time dream use cases. I wanna bring my desktop into some of my favorite VRChat worlds and work there with other people. I've designed hackerspaces as co-working spaces to teach / learn / build with others

Great talk. Anyone using Rider and Fork is my crew πŸ’™ My package setup isn't as sprawling as yours is but it's definitely the way to go!

Desktop:

  • Varjo, but I'm not sure about WebXR capabilities.
  • To some extend Vive Index, but also not sure about WebXR. Standalone:
  • Lynx (confirmed WebXR passthrough support), unreleased
  • Pico 4 (device released, but no WebXR passthrough yet I believe, but announced)
  • Vive Focus 3 (has passthrough but not sure if passthrough in WebXR)

Seems Quest Pro is the best option out of those budget and support wise, we got burnt by Magic Leap bricking our Magic Leap Ones with a mandatory firmware update so I'm having to do some 'moving and shaking' internally to even get another MR headset and have to prove it should last a while. Not working with Magic Leap again, they wouldn't even sort us a deal for Magic Leap 2 devices

hybridherbst

😦 that's bad. Good part about Quest is that you can test with Quest 2 (much cheaper, easier availability, etc.) in black and white and just know it works on Pro too.

does the plugin also works with react js?

basically i want a website on react js and i want to deploy a casual game on it to make the website 3d looking and interactive, and i want the other functionalities to be also added in the website by web dev, so is it possible to do that with this plugin?

marwi123

Hello <@546555823451668481> yes it is, there is also a small react template. And please post further questions in the <#1024686103598477383> πŸ™‚

hybridherbst

The react template is one of the templates provided with Needle Engine. The engine/exporter itself are free to use for non-commercial and evaluation purposes during Open Beta as stated on our website. Please ask further questions in <#1024686103598477383> - thanks!

marwi123

What do you mean by "in Needle Tools" and what "Mirror" are you referring to (the networking solution or the package mirror)?

hybridherbst

Hey <@673646317511245835> , I think we discussed these points before in DMs.

Needle Engine supports WebXR, browsers may use OpenXR for that. Needle Engine also supports networking and ships with an integrated networking stack. There's no native integration into Mirror's specific transport layers but also I don't think anything stops you from adding that if needed for a project.

If you still have questions please open a thread in <#1024686103598477383> - thanks!

high_byte

ah it also says "Not Found" in red when I have only C# version of the script.. so I guess not possible?

marwi123

Do you see a forum in another discord server? Are you on mobile or desktop? Maybe an old discord client?

marwi123

Which version? You can see it in the app details if you are on android. Can you check if there's an update available?

Hello, I just discovered Needle, I was wondering if it supports React.js for web component and if publishing on glitch was mandatory.

I was testing Three.js directly but turns out the app i wanted to do is more like a game, so i turned to unity and heard about Needle

I don't believe there is a default controller for an FPS but you can build any type of controller you want to use

hybridherbst

<@528001029514461215> as <@197684733801529344> said (thanks!) there's no built-in FPS controller (yet!) but you could adjust the 3rd-person character controller sample to do that. Happy to respond to more questions if you post them in <#1024686103598477383> πŸ™‚

Okay cool, so then I guess I'm wondering if most of what I make in unity works as a web 3r experience

Hello, Exploring needle for a VR + web project. I want to use Nextjs. Is there any example on how to handle global state (such as zustand), real time communication using socket.io, render components and their states, and APIs. Any example or lead would be helpful.

Hi there,

that's a fantastic project you guys got going here. Just a quick question: Is there already support for reflection probes or reflections in general? Any hint how to approach this, since simply baking a probe doesnt work in the exported project.

Thanks so much!

Needle is the company, Needle Engine is a product. Ask questions in <#1024686103598477383> or <#918959857091088464>

Hey guys had a general question for the community in regards to asmdefs. I'm trying to get a better handle on reasons to check "Override References" in my games runtime / editor asmdefs. As far as I can tell, the main benefit would likely be compile times as all "Auto Refernced" assets are not referenced by default, so the ones i'm not using wouldn't be included.

Just let me know if there is a better place to ask this question if this is the wrong place and I'll move things over πŸ‘ . Given needle expertise with packages I figured this would be a good place to ask the question πŸ™‚ .
