🧵#license confusion
Happy to clarify and adjust as needed.
The idea is simple but putting it into words isn't: for non-commercial work and if you're entitled to Unity Free this is free For everything else or if you're not entitled to Unity Free you'll need an AssetStore license
Also, similar to many Needle packages this is "additive by design" - nothing breaks if at any point someone removes it from a project. E.g. if you want to fully open source your project you can totally use SG Markdown to create the shaders etc, but not re-publish the package itself.
That pretty much clarifies any questions I had
Thank you <@519636239658385605>
Would there be something I can change in the license to make the above more clear? We're planning on releasing most things on this kind of "trust" model, so defining it better is good
I recommend adding a ‘LICENSE’ file so GitHub doesn’t say License None
Which is kind of a red flag to at least me
(I know it’s in the readme but still)
Ah right, I remember... the issue was that ironically AssetStore doesn't understand this concept of "it's the same license style as Unity Free/Pro" and had an issue with a license that's not the AssetStore license 🙃 I'll see if I can distribute with separate licenses
😔 ah yes, the asset store
Well, some money to get back is nice 😄 So far this dual model works ok
Also, we're working on other options to support development. Shouldn't change how existing things can be used though
