🧵#Gemni 3 Flash stops to respond
Hi, isn't the error already indicating that gemini 3 flash has a problem?
“Provider Error”,“detail”:“We’re having trouble connecting to the model provider. This might be temporary - please try again in a moment.”
The MCP server implements the latest MCP spec. In my experience smaller models do sometimes have issues with tool calling.
Do you have a specific tool that doesn't work? Or is it all of them with the same message?
Have you tried again after a while (e.g. a few hours or a day)?
Network request logs would be helpful (as the Cursor dev also pointed out)
Hi, thank you for the reply.
Unfortunately, no detail info for the failure, it only says 'planing for the next move', then failed as my screenshot shows. Every time it is same message without further detail, I have no idea what tool it tried to call.
In the beginning I thought it was networking issue, and tried multiple times within the 16 hours. Yet all agent call for gemni 3 flash fail as described above, and no other model, including gemni 3 pro suffers from same issue. And by disabling needle mcp, the gemni 3 flash is working in agent mode, so I suppose it is related to the mcp
Hi, i think the root issue stems from cursor and vscode having issues with tool parameters where multiple input options are given. Currently Needle Inspector provides "hierarchy_select_nodes" and "property_set_value" tools that use this feature. Can you try disabling both these tools temporarely to see if after that the agent works again?

I may have a fix in the meantime for the next update but would be good if you could confirm that disabling these two tools makes flash work for you again
<@476455321360007170> let me know when you had a chance to try. Would love to include a fix in the next update (if I can)
Sorry for the late response, yet I failed to find the configure tools button as in your screenshot. I'm using cursor 2.3.35 and my ui looks like in the screenshot without such button
(1) search for mcp settings (2) click the two tools i mentioned before to disable them
The new version is public now so maybe it just works again once chrome updated it for you
<@476455321360007170> did you have a chance to try again?
